When it comes to all aspects of the home, putting colour on one’s door isn’t popular across the globe. People might think it’s strange to colour the front door, but why not? After all, your door is the welcoming factor of your home…literally. Having welcoming colours and designs on your front door can enhance its’ overall appeal. This can be done in several ways.
Doors aren’t limited to a traditional high gloss finish. You can also access a wide range of colours in low sheen (semi-gloss) and even satin finish. These can be applied to doors of any material, be it wooden or metal, with use of the correct primer of course.
Wooden Doors
Simple solid tone colours, brighter than that of the structure or room, make doors stand out while still creating a balanced scheme that appeals to the eyes.
The colour schemes above, as you can see for the doors, are similar to that of the wall colour. These are complimenting to the structure, as they will highlight the door without interrupting the chosen scheme of the house itself. These combinations are calm and welcoming, subtle tones that draw interest, accented by either a white/light or dark frame. Using multiple colours in the design adds dimension to the doors.
Other ideas, more minimal yet more aesthetic, include doors with contrasting or complimenting frames to highlight the simple door colour. These schemes can be used on the inside as well as outside, if the colours are vibrant but long lasting as well.
Don’t be afraid to get creative with your combinations.
