There are many ways to make your home a new space after a long time. Accent walls are a means of enhancing the atmosphere in a room or highlighting a feature that would otherwise go unnoticed. You can create these walls on your own with DIY patterns or hire someone to apply a professional finish to the project.

There are different ways of achieving the accent that is right for your home. A common misconception when repainting is that an accent wall must be a WALL. It can be a Door at the end of a room or hall, a bold coloured Cabinet or even a WHITE wall in a colourful room.

If you want an accent that POPS, you can try a Contrasting accent. On your basic colour wheel, it shows you a rainbow. Colours of a higher contrast exist on opposite sides of each other.

For example: The room above uses a contrasting colour scheme using blue and yellow. The accent here is the deeper blue to contrast the light yellow used as the main colour in the dining area.

Last but not least are Monotonous accents, these are colour variations within the same family. Finding accents within the same colour family is much easier, as all you need do is find a lighter or darker version to your chosen main colour.
